Anju Moses

Executive Director

Anju Moses is an academic management specialist with extensive experience leading large academic teams and programs in Young Learner and Adult contexts. Before Avinya, she was the Cluster Academic Manager, Adults, South Asia and Myanmar at British Council Sri Lanka, where she worked for over 15 years across a range of functions in the Teaching Center. She has experience across a variety of roles including ICT, e-Learning, Professional Training and Young Learners including Child Protection and Safeguarding. Prior to that she worked in Corporate and Soft Skills training contexts as well as in Banking and Finance. Anju has an extensive background in teaching across all contexts and age groups and has experience in teacher training and delivering corporate courses. She is interested in Assessment, Materials design and Learning & Professional Development. She has published two children’s fiction chapter books and is passionate about education in general and particularly supporting youth with creativity and reading. 

She has an M.A. in Applied Linguistics and TESOL from the University of Portsmouth, DELTA from the University of Cambridge and is an Associate of the Institute of Bankers Sri Lanka.

Dinesha Senaratne

Head of Empower Program

Dinesha Senaratne is an experienced and dedicated educator with a strong background in ESL, Drama and Special Needs Education. With over a decade of teaching experience, she has worked with students ranging from Preschool to Upper Secondary levels. She has held positions at reputable institutions such as the British Council and several leading international schools in Colombo. Prior to her teaching career, she worked as a Newscaster and Journalist, developing her skills in effective communication and storytelling. She is particularly interested in Curriculum Development and Classroom Research, constantly seeking new approaches to enhance the learning experience, including Cooperative Learning methods. She particularly enjoys working on creative processes with students  as it ignites children’s imagination and allows them to showcase their problem-solving skills, which she finds truly rewarding.

She holds an M.A. in Education from the University of Nottingham, CELTA and an ATCL in teaching Speech and Drama from Trinity Guildhall.

Yujith Isura

Head of Information Technology

Yujith is a Software Engineer currently employed with the Avinya Foundation Technology Team. With a strong background in full-stack application development, he previously worked at the Lanka Software Foundation (LSF), where he played a pivotal role in creating software solutions for the Sri Lanka Election Commission on behalf of LSF. Yujith holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC), Sri Lanka. Apart from his professional endeavors, he finds joy in playing badminton and spending quality time with friends during his leisure hours.

Lahiru Ratnasooriya

Software Engineer

Lahiru is a software engineer at Avinya Foundation. Prior to joining Avinya Foundation, Lahiru worked as a software engineer at Epic Lanka (PVT) Ltd, where he was responsible for backend development in financial applications. Lahiru holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Software Engineering from the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology.In his spare time, Lahiru enjoys traveling, playing video games, watching movies, and listening to music.

Nalaka Fernando

Head of Finance and Administration

With a wealth of expertise spanning 19 years in Finance and Accounting, Nalaka is a seasoned professional. He has contributed his talents to both local and international companies, including serving as an Assistant Manager at an Australian BPO firm, where he was responsible for client onboarding and staff training. Nalaka’s international journey includes a successful tenure as a Finance Supervisor at Qatar Airways, specializing in e-Commerce finance activities. He holds a Business Management degree from Buckinghamshire New University. Beyond his professional pursuits, Nalaka enjoys playing cricket, spending quality time with family and friends, and listening to music.
